1. What is the ProCare cancellation policy?
Missed appointments and short notice cancellations present one of the most difficult problems for any rehabilitation clinic. Not only does it result in a loss of workable hours for the therapist, it also prevents other patients in the practice from receiving the help they need.
It is the patient’s responsibility to keep scheduled appointments. ProCare requires a minimum of 24 hours notice for any cancellation or rescheduling, as stated in your signed service agreement. This allows sufficient time for the appointment to be filled by another client. Notice of cancellation should be completed through our online scheduler, or given by phone to clinic reception, at (905)393-5686, to allow for immediate updating of the schedule. Because therapists may not receive electronic messages right away, ProCare does not accept cancellations via email or text message.
We do understand that occasionally an emergency or illness can result in a missed appointment or a short notice cancellation. In these cases, the decision to charge the patient in full for the missed appointment is at the discretion of the affected therapist, and is based on your previous attendance record. If you have had missed appointments or short notice cancellations in the past, you will be charged the full appointment fee.
2. Can I still see an athletic therapist if I am not a competitive athlete?
Absolutely. The primary reason to see an athletic therapist is to safely return to your activities of daily living and physical activity under the guidance of a health care professional. 3. What makes an athletic therapist different from other rehabilitation professionals?
Athletic therapy programs in Canada have a clear, consistent focus on orthopaedic injury during the four years of full-time course work. During the practical component of the program, students must spend a minimum of 1200 hours working with sports teams, and with orthopaedic injuries in a clinical setting. As a result, a certified athletic therapist begins his or her career with more experience in sports injury rehabilitation than any other professional in the industry. This specialization makes athletic therapy unique, and is the reason why athletic therapists are the personnel consistently chosen by professional sports organizations across Canada and the United States. 4. What type of clothing should I wear to my appointments?
To your first appointment, please bring a pair of gym shorts and a t-shirt or tank top, as your initial visit will include postural assessment and orthopaedic testing. Following your assessment, you will require comfortable attire and clean gym shoes for your appointments.
5. Is there parking?
ProCare Athletic Therapy is located at the corner of Locke Street South and Melbourne. There is metered parking along Locke Street. Parking along Melbourne Street and Pine Street is free.
6. Is athletic therapy covered under my health plan?
